A decade ago Jamie VonEye approached Sam Pickard with an idea to start a Crop Insurance Agency that offered personalized service to farmers and provided revenue to make an impact in people’s lives. In 2017, that vision became a reality.

Sam has been involved in Crop Insurance since 2009 and, as a farmer Jamie has been involved in Crop Insurance most of his life. As a farmer, Jamie has been around crop insurance all of his adult life. Both are licensed Crop Insurance agents.

The Pickard and VonEye families have a desire to help people in need, within the United States and in different countries and Jamie suggested they could take some of the revenue to cover the cost of serving and meeting needs.

It’s more than that, though. As people we sometimes begin to find our identity in what we do. This is true for many groups, including farmers. Unfortunately, when things aren’t going well, it can impact how a person sees themselves. But, when given the opportunity to go serve other people, those who are serving realize they have something to offer. And, while serving, they are helping meet real needs.

All of that serving and going costs money. If we can help offset some costs to make it possible for more people, everyone wins. Most farmers are going to purchase some sort of insurance. We can serve them by helping them find what meets their needs. They can feel good knowing their operation is insured and part of the revenue being made from them purchasing insurance is going to help others.

Yes, it is nice to make money for our families, but the goal is much bigger than that!
